Joaquín Villarino
"My work explores states of transition, what it means to shed one version of yourself while becoming another."

Biography
JOAQUÍN VILLARINO (b. 1991, Spain)
is a contemporary painter based in Los Angeles, California.
Villarino's practice explores the intersection of emotional authenticity and formal structure through large-scale paintings that examine the dualities of chaos and order, control and surrender, restraint and expression. His recent exhibition, Polarities (2025), at Taylor Fine Art continued this investigation, inviting viewers into a dialogue between tension and harmony. Through transformation, Villarino's work reveals the unfolding of his spiritual and personal evolution—each piece becoming a mirror of his journey toward balance and transcendence.
Villarino holds a BA in Graphic Design and Fine Arts from San Diego State University, where he received the Provost Award. His work is held in private collections across Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Mexico, Chile, Brasil, Mexico, and Venezuela.
He maintains his studio at Alium Gallery in Culver City, California.
